GOVERNMENT OF DELHI

* Strict action against fire safety violations: 74 premises inspected, 5 ordered to be closed.
* Safety of Delhiites is paramount; no negligence in compliance with fire safety norms will be tolerated — Home Minister.
Keeping in view the upcoming festive season and with the objective of ensuring the safety of citizens, the Delhi Fire Service is conducting a comprehensive fire safety inspection drive in restaurants, hotels and clubs across the capital, in compliance with Office Order No. F.6/DFS/HQ/2025/2127 dated 10.12.2025.
During the inspections, all fire prevention and safety arrangements are being thoroughly examined. This includes checking the functionality of firefighting equipment, availability and accessibility of emergency exits, and compliance with building by-laws. The inspections are being carried out strictly in accordance with the prescribed standards under Rule 33 of the Delhi Fire Service Rules, 2010.
Hon’ble Home Minister of Delhi Shri Ashish Sood, informed that up to 17 December 2025, a total of 74 premises, including restaurants, hotels, clubs and pubs, have been inspected. Of these, 45 premises were found compliant with fire safety norms. 24 premises were found non-compliant and notice issued to them and directions have been issued to close 05 premises due to serious violations.
Shri Sood stated that Under the Guidance of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Delhi Smt. Rekha Gupta for the Delhi Government the safety and lives of Delhi’s residents are of utmost priority. With increased public footfall in restaurants, hotels and clubs during the festive season, strict adherence to fire safety norms becomes essential. Taking cognisance of a recent tragic incident at a night club in Goa, the Delhi Government has initiated prompt and intensive inspections of fire safety equipment in hotels, restaurants and similar establishments.
The Home Minister further said that this special inspection drive by the Delhi Fire Service is well-planned and fully in accordance with the rules. Establishments found ignoring fire safety norms are being proceeded against as per law, including closure where required. He emphasised that this action is not punitive in nature, but preventive and in the larger public interest.
He appealed to all owners and operators of commercial establishments to conduct regular checks of fire safety equipment, ensure proper training of staff to handle emergency situations, and strictly comply with all statutory requirements.
The Hon’ble Minister also clarified that such inspection drives will continue in the future to prevent any untoward incidents and to ensure that citizens can celebrate festivals in a safe and secure environment across the national capital.
