Srinagar,
Senior leader Jagmohan Singh Raina has reacted strongly to the recent incident involving Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, where the niqaab of a girl was reportedly pulled during a public function. Raina said that India is a country of multiple religions and the Constitution mandates respect for all faiths. He emphasized that freedom to practice religion is a fundamental pillar of the nation. He said the Prime Minister should address the issue in Mann Ki Baat so that a positive and reassuring message goes across the country and harmony among citizens is strengthened. Raina further stated that such incidents are not limited to the Muslim community alone. He pointed out that Sikhs have also faced similar situations in the past, where they were asked to remove religious symbols such as the kripaan and kada. He stressed that the dignity and sanctity of women must be respected at all times, irrespective of religion, and no action should hurt religious sentiments or personal beliefs.
